These songs, many new, some retrieved from the dust of my 75 years, play from the past to the present, as does the title song. In this great wide world there’s always a Dealer, whether in the White House or on the Buffalo Range, who aims to rig the game for the few against the many; our only chance is to band together and fight to even the odds. Likewise, to smooth and flavor my rough-hewn songs, I’ve joined with two fine musicians: my long-time friend “Mando” Dan Hermreck and a lovely young lady, Sasha Feryok w/ her “Slavic” fiddle – can’t praise them enough. Again, I wish to thank Tommy Perez for his deft mix and master. Finally, I nod to the listener, in whatever clime or country, without you the songs do not live. Good luck in all your struggles and carry on! -- Melvin Litton (aka The Gothic Cowboy)

Musik An Sich (Germany) Wolfgang Giese: “Once again, Melvin Litton captures a sense of desolation that feels remarkably immediate and present… Names like Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, punk bard Billy Bragg, and Townes Van Zandt spring to mind. Yet Melvin Litton needs no such comparisons; he is an artist in his own right, offering the listener 21 songs to experience and truly live through.” https://www.musikansich.de/review.php?id=26320

Fatea Magazine (the UK) Mike Davies: “The songs thrive on radiating narratives, often like stories set to music…I absolutely cannot call any one song my favorite; they all belong together and allow me to immerse myself in this world full of honesty and truth, with all its rough edges, whether it's about love, an old man's last breath, Melvin’s sister "Sweet Nancy" on a personal level, aging, the Vietnam War, or gamblers—yes, this music "lives" with great wisdom that often doesn't mince words, and that's what makes it so appealing to me!” https://www.fatea-records.co.uk/magazine/reviews/GothicCowboy2/

Berlin Calling (Sweden) Torbjörn Berlin: “The music follows a tradition of artists like Bob Dylan, Leadbelly, and Woody Guthrie—with hints of Hank Williams—where the lyrics take center stage. Musically, it offers a well-balanced blend of blues and American folk music; simple yet timeless, beautiful, and entertaining…” https://berlincalling.org/2026/10/11/bluesigt-fran-the-gothic-cowboy/#like-3691
